Atlanta Chapter v. Coastal Georgia Chapter | SUP Battle

Written by Surfrider Foundation Georgia | Sep 7, 2011 2:27:33 AM

On August 20, 2011, Steve Combs, Chair of the Atlanta Chapter visited Savannah and Skidaway Island for the SUP Splash Race with stand up paddlers from around the Southeast. Patrick Carver, Chair of the Coastal Georgia Low Country Chapter also raced. The stage was set for a paddle the likes of which--ok it wasn't that dramatic. Patrick ended up edging out Steve by 3 minutes. However, Atlanta Chapter member Wes Stolp won the entire race so I consider that a tie between the chapters. Steve and Patrick had a small but good SUP session the following day with some dolphins at daybreak. Georgia's coast is a beautiful place. This trip to should remind everyone why Surfrider Foundation is so important. Check out the images below and don't forget our STOP-Save Tybee's Ocean Playground campaign.
