More info

100 years ago, the Organic Act of 1916 established the National Park Service. To celebrate, the National Park Service, REI and theChattahoochee Parks Conservancy are hosting a campout and river cleanup on the Chattahoochee River! Come sleep under the stars with us at the Abbott's Bridge Unit, conveniently located in Duluth. The National Park Service is allowing camping at a Chattahoochee River park unit for the first and only time exclusively for this event! You'll spend Saturday paddling down the river, enjoying the fall weather, and helping beautify one of Georgia's iconic natural resources by picking up litter during the float. Kayaks, paddleboards and canoes will be available for anyone who does not own one. After the clean-up paddle, spend the evening with park rangers and new friends around the campfire, listening to great music and roasting s'mores. Saturday lunch, BBQ dinner, craft beer samples, Sunday breakfast and lots of surprises are included. On Sunday, you can also learn some new skills like navigation, mountain biking on our portable pump track or get out on the river on a stand up paddleboard. Profits from the event will benefit the Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy and their support of the park's trail restoration efforts. Do not pass up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the weekend camping in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and supporting the Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy!
