The event is free and open to the public. This year, we will be providing two thought-provoking and visually-stunning new films. To be held in the afternoon and evening at the new Jekyll Island Convention Center, the Jekyll Island Green Screen will open with the Disney Nature film, Wings of Life. Film Descriptions

Wings of Life is a stunning adventure full of intrigue, drama and mesmerizing beauty. Narrated by Meryl Streep, this intimate and unprecedented look at butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, bats and flowers is a celebration of life, as a third of the world’s food supply depends on these incredible – and increasingly threatened – creatures.

Into the Gyre has won numerous awards at international film festivals. This film documents a groundbreaking expedition to study the location, extent and effect of plastic pollution in the North Atlantic Ocean. Thirty-four volunteer researchers, scientists and sailors participated in this five- week long adventure to the remote Sargasso Sea, east of Bermuda. Sailing on a 135-foot tall ship, operated by the Sea Education Association, the film closely follows four of the scientists as they collect, count, and archive the plastic they encounter. Along the way, the film examines the history of plastics, the adverse effects it is causing in the ocean and possible solutions to this problem.
