The Surfrider Foundation Georgia Chapter is the result of the 2013 merger of the Atlanta Chapter (founded in 2009) and the Low Country/Coastal Georgia Chapter (founded in 2007).
Our mission includes protecting the ecologically rich and sensitive Georgia coastline, and all the waterways and watersheds across our great state. The one hundred miles of Georgia coastline contains one third of the remaining coastal marsh on the entire Atlantic seaboard, and 70% of the commercial fish stock in the Atlantic Ocean depend on the marshland. Georgia’s salt marsh is a $6 billion economic engine through tourism, fishing, recreation and protection of property from storm damage.
