Thanks to all of our members and supporters, the fundraiser at East Andrews Bar and Grill was a success! A portion of our proceeds will help send Co-Chair Pam Longobardi’s art to the 5th International Marine Debris Conference (5imdc). 5imdc is the biggest gathering of scientists, policy makers, activists addressing marine debris in the world. The Surfrider Foundation Atlanta Chapter will be among a stellar lineup of other sponsors: Ocean Conservancy, Plastic Pollution Coalition, Oceanic Society.
We also announced our partnership with One More Generation, together we will be working on a plastic bag ban campaign for 2011. The highlight of the night was a surprise visit by the Chico Bag Monster. Chico Bags are reusable shopping bags made from 7 recycled plastic bottles – a much more sustainable solution than plastic.
